Community Service System

We are an intricate part of our community.
 

Community Support Services are offered as a means of allowing individuals with disabilities to live in their community as independently as possible, while meeting their daily needs and providing access to the community. Ellisville State School is a provider of Home and Community Based Waiver Services, which support individuals in the community by providing access to services which allow them to remain in their home. Listed below are the services provided through Ellisville State School’s Home and Community Based Waiver Services.

Residential Habilitation
Residential Habilitation provides individually tailored supports which assist an individual in the acquisition, retention and/or improvement in skills related to living in the community.  Staff are available 24 hours per day, seven days per week to assist individuals as needed to live in the community.  Transportation is provided.

Pre-Vocational Services
Pre-Vocational services are designed to prepare an eligible individual for paid employment and provide opportunities to acquire skills such as: problem solving, safety, attention to task, and independence.  Individuals are offered opportunities to explore different types of jobs and job sites in their community.  Services are offered in Jones, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Smith, Perry, Pike, and Lowndes counties. Transportation is provided.           

Supported Employment
Supported Employment provides intensive, ongoing supports which enable participants for whom competitive employment at or above the minimum wage is unlikely without the provision of these supports.  Services may consist of: assistance in finding a job; assistance preparing for a job; and assistance and support at the work site in order for the individual to successfully perform the job.  Services are offered in Jones, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Smith, Perry, Pike, and Lowndes counties. Transportation is provided.

Day Services Adults
Day Services for Adults focuses on enabling the participant to attain or maintain his or her maximum functioning level.  Activities and environments are designed to foster the acquisition of skills, appropriate behavior, greater independence, and personal choice.  Services are provided in a non-residential setting. Services are offered in Jones and Lowndes counties.  Transportation is provided.

Respite
Respite provides temporary, periodic relief to those persons normally providing care for an eligible individual.  Respite services are provided to individuals who are unable to care for themselves in the absence or need for relief of the primary caregiver.  Respite is designed to be provided on a short term basis.  Two types of respite are offered:

In Home Nursing Respite which is provided in an eligible individual’s home.  In-Home Nursing Respite Services are available in Clay, Covington, Clarke, Greene, Jones, Jasper, Smith, Perry, Lamar, Forrest, Pike, Lowndes, Jefferson Davis, Lawrence, Marion, Neshoba, Newton, Noxubee, Walthall, and Wayne counties.

Community Respite which is provided in a DMH certified community site.  Community Respite Services are provided in Jones and Lowndes counties Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Home and Community Supports
Home and Community Supports provide participants with assistance to meet their daily living needs, ensure adequate functioning in their home and community, and provide safe access to the community.

Supported Living
This program provides a less restrictive living arrangement than supervised apartments while still providing the necessary support to individuals which enables them to live more independently in their own living arrangement.
